Sarah Folger is a Philadelphia-based art educator and teaching artist with nearly 20 years of experience working with young people across the city. She currently teaches middle school art in West Philadelphia, where she has spent the past four years working in schools including KIPP, Boys’ Latin Middle School, and Richard Allen Preparatory.

From 2015 to 2022, Sarah served as a museum educator at the Penn Museum, where she developed and wrote curriculum for the Unpacking the Past program, creating legacy learning experiences that continue to be used today. During her time there, she also designed and led innovative partnerships, including a collaboration with the Philadelphia Juvenile Justice Services Center School, where incarcerated youth created a digital mosaic project inspired by the museum’s ancient art collections.

Sarah has a deep background in community-based arts education and has led large-scale public art projects as a teaching artist with Mural Arts Philadelphia. She has also taught in partnership with organizations such as Fleisher Art Memorial and Spiral Q Puppet Theater, and continues to collaborate with local community partners in her neighborhood. She is also a long-time mentor with Big Brothers Big Sisters, where she has supported youth for over a decade.

Rooted in a commitment to accessibility, creativity, and youth voice, Sarah brings a collaborative, curious, and joyful approach to her teaching practice.
